Days 7 & 8

Missoula, Montana to Glacier National Park, Montana

While it is only about 160 miles from Missoula to the west entrance to Glacier Nat'l Park, it seemed to take most of the day. A lot of the drive is spent going around Flathead Lake, which reminded Susan and me of Lake Tahoe. It was raining off and on most of the day and at times we were treated to some lightning. The storm activity extended into the night and we were woken a few times with the crash of thunder nearby. The next day was tamer and we headed into the park on our Ebikes. Glacier is known as a very beautiful park with spectacular views. Many of these views can be seen on the "Going To The Sun" road. Driving your car on this road is so popular that the NPS has instituted a reservation system. Our reservation is for tomorrow, so today we just visited the nearby Visitor Center and McDonald Lake resort area.

You see this these old-fashioned limousine vehicles quite often around the park. They appear in lots of the literature and posters, so I gather they are iconic and have come to represent Glacier National Park.
