Prelude

Planning for this three-week trip

If you happened to follow along on our Canadian Trip, you'll see there are many similarities to this trip.
We are once again traveling with Allan & Patricia (although they have upgraded their 2012 Lance trailer to a brand-new 2025 Airstream Flying Cloud trailer.) We are again traveling in our 2020 Lance model 2375 travel trailer. This year's trip will also be for three weeks and we'll travel just over 2500 miles. And we are again taking our dog with us. Our stopovers will be a combination of Public and Private campgrounds , as well as the occasional Harvest Host for one-day stops along the way. Something that will, unfortunately, be different this year will be the price of gas. With Trump's war on Iran underway, the price of gas is expected to be in the $5.50 to $7.00 per gallon range. Ouch!

The route we decided upon is shown on the map, above. It kinda resembles the Infinity symbol. We'll be spending time in the Monument Valley, Moab, and Kanab parts of Southern Utah. We'll then be heading to Las Vegas for a couple of nights where we will have the opportunuity to catch up with Susan's brother, Jack, and his family. We'll then head to Los Angeles, for a quick stop in my old neighborhood, and then head south towards San Diego. This will give us a chance to catch up with another of Susan's brothers, Tom, as well as see the newly opened Elephant Valley exhibit at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park in Escondido. We'll then head up the coast making our way home but stopping along the way at some beautiful California beach campgrounds, which we love (especially Hobbs.) We are very excited for this trip to get underway!
