Days 7-10

It was a relatively short drive from Golden to Banff. We'd made reservations months in advance to secure a campsite at the Tunnel 2 Campground, just outside of the town of Banff.
Here's the view from our trailer door.

With our initial long driving days, and then visiting the sites, Hobbs has been getting the short end of the stick. Luckily I have my e-bike with me and can take him on long runs/walks when we return to the trailer. But we decided to allocate a day just for Hobbs by taking him to a nearby remote lake where he could romp and swim. The lake is called Johnson Lake but were referred to it as "Hobbs Lake."

Also in Banff is the Banff Springs Hotel.

Next we checked out the town of Banff. It's a very cute Alpine town with spectacular views!

Lake Louise and it's Chateau is such an attraction that we followed the Park Ranger's advice and waitied until after 6PM to visit it.
Only registered guests were allowed past the Chateau gates. I had visited this area 55 years ago when I was 15 and we had no trouble walking around the lake and touring the Chateau Lobby back then.

The gates appear to keep the registered guests locked "in" as much as keeping us tourists "out."
Tomorrow is another short driving day as we begin heading south back towards the US border and stay at Waterton National Park.
We also checked out nearby Canmore, which also has a cute downtown amidst spectacular views.
