Days 5-6

We took a day-trip into nearby Yoho National Park. In the park is Emerald Lake, which is said to be every bit as spectacular as the more famous Lake Louse. We'll be visiting Lake Louse in a couple of days so we can see if this is true.

Viewing the waterfall are these two red Adirondack chairs. To promote Canada's beauty, Park Canada has been placing these iconic red chairs at some of the most beautiful locations around the country. They have placed over 400 of these chairs at over 200 locations.

Nearby was a "natural bridge" where a fast-moving river passes under a natural rock bridge.

We next headed to see the Takakkaw Falls, which at 1224 feet is the second-highest waterfall in Canada. (for those enquiring minds - the highest waterfall in Canada is Della Falls on Vancouver Island at 1440 feet.) It reminded us a lot of of Yosemite Falls, which is 2425 feet!

Tomorrow is a relatively short driving day as we cross over into neighboring Alberta and our next campground in Banff.

This 3-D model explained how the water feeding the Takakkaw Falls comes from the melt of the nearby Daly Glacier.
