Days 12-14

The town was quite nice. Susan and I enjoyed a nice lunch at the local brewery. And the next day we all had a fine dinner at the Waterton Lakeside Chophouse.

A bear was spotted along the shoreline.

Located below Calgary and just north of the US/Canada border is Waterton National Park. Many Canadians describe it as their well-kept secret because it's quite spectacular but not as well-known as Banff. This was our camping spot for the next three days.

We departed Banff and drove east to Calgary and then headed south.

Susan picked up a few doggie treats for Hobbs from one of the local stores. The Canadians certainly let it be known what they think of the current US Administration's tariff policy.

... as well as plenty of these very pretty birds.

The campground is located on Lake Waterton and in the Waterton Township. Overlooking the town and the lake, high on a hill, is the Prince of Wales Hotel.

A popular activity is to take a boat ride down the lake where it crosses the international border.

During our stay we also saw plenty of local deer and elk ...

My resident bird expert (Pamela King) tells me that this is a Black-Billed Magpie. It is of the Corvid family. It is related to Crows and Ravens and is also known for being very smart. Thanks Pamela!

Tomorrow we head south, crossing the border back into the US. We're curious to see how the border crossing proceeds, with the RV and Hobbs to complicate things. Our next stop is West Glacier, adjacent to Glacier National Park.

We also watched our beloved 49ers beat the New Orleans Saints. Our boys are now 2-0 in the very young season!
