Day 92
Verdi, Nevada to San Jose, California
We spent last night in Verdi, Nevada. This place is also called Boomtown as it is just over the Nevada border with California. You may recall that we began our mega-trip by spending the first night on the road (three months ago!) at this same campground. Staying here again brought a sense of full-circle to us as well as a solid knowledge that our adventrure ended today. Susan took a picture of me next to the bull sculpture, matching the idential pose she took of me three months ago on our first night here. (See Day 1) Of course, the temperature was quite a bit cooler and the season was decidely autumn rather than summer.
After a delicious breakfast at The Sierra Cafe at the Gold Ranch RV Resort, we got on the road and were immediately back in California. We headed to our son's home in San Ramon so that we could retrieve our dog. They had been graciously watching Hobbs for us for these past 3 months. In fact, we were kinda concerned that our 11 year old grandson might have bonded with Hobbs and that it might be difficult to give Hobbs up upon our return. Well, as things turned out, they acquired a puppy about 2 weeks before! - a beautiful Golden Retriever girl named Bailey. So, we wanted to rescue Hobbs from the craziness that inevitably comes with a new puppy.
It was wonderful see Maxx and Sean & Cristina again, as well as meet Bailey. They had been following the Blog (and Maxx had been receiving Susan's postcards) on a regular basis so they were pretty much caught-up. After a while we took Hobbs and drove the last 45 minutes to our home in San Jose.
Wow! The trip is over! We made it! I'll post a final "Epilogue" entry to this Blog.
