Day 13-14
Kanab, Utah to Las Vegas, Nevada

We headed out from Kanab with Las Vegas as our next destination. Our route took us through Hurricane, Utah. This may be obscure to most everyone reading this, but there's this guy named Matt that has a business called Matt's Off-Road Recovery. He is very good at recovering off-road vehicles that have broken down and/or gotten stuck in the back country. He videos lots of his recoveries and posts them to YouTube and Facebook. I stumbled across some of his videos and now I'm hooked and thoroughly enjoy watching each of his successes. Well, he is based out of Hurricane, so we had to stop by and see his operation. It wasn't open for business, but I was able to snap a selfie with one of his rescue vehicles in the background.

And this shot captures the image of "The Wrecker" and "The Snow Trac"

Here is a link to his website, which further shows his vehicles (which are even sold as children's toys) and some of his most impressive videos.
As we continued on into Nevada, we watched the surrounding terrain turn from Utah-orange to Nevada-brownish tan.
This is a closer picture of "The Banana"

We later met Allan & Patricia at a Mexican Restaurant in nearby Henderson called Ay Ay Ay! This is where we part ways with Allan & Patricia, as we continue on our trip for a third week while they head home. So, we had an excellent dinner together and said our goodbyes.
Soon we were in Las Vegas. Despite the published accounts of a 10%-15% recent downturn in visitors, it still shows tremendous signs of growth. This includes new homes and high-rise apartments as well as hotels and casinos. We snapped some pictures of the half-built Hard Rock Cafe hotel. As you can see, the whole hotel is shaped like a guitar, which I'm sure represents an amazing feat of architecture and engineering.
Tomorrow we cross back into California.
